A quick note: I know I promised we’d get back to the Mission-Critical Conversations series, and we will. That continues Sunday. But something happened a few weeks ago that I couldn’t sit on — and I think you’ll understand why once you’ve watched.
You just watched me be more honest than I’ve been in a long time.
It started as an attempt at a TED-style speech — until I realized TED-style speeches aren’t really about the person. They’re about an idea. And this one? This one is about me. And before it gets to a bigger stage, I wanted to share it here first. You all are always my first audience.
I practiced this speech for the first time in front of my students last week. I was reading from a script, still finding my footing, still learning how to carry this story without it carrying me. I cried. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t perfect.
But it was true. And I did it anyway.
That’s what building looks like from the inside.
If any part of what you just watched sounds like something you’ve felt but couldn’t say — leave a comment. I’d love to know it landed.
A special thank you to my paid subscribers who received early access to this video last night. Early access is just one of the perks of being in that circle. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, it’s just $5 a month — about the cost of one grande white chocolate mocha with soy. I’d love to have you in that circle.
